New Week::New Theme: Water
Probilder captured/created this beautifully produced video of Covão do Conchos near Guarda, Portugal, a natural-looking, but human-built, spillway for the Conchos Dam. It ensures the water diversion from Ribeira das Naves to Lagoa Comprida.
While spillways can come in different shapes, I really appreciate this circular one, built in 1955, because it looks like nature created it. Even the flow of the water into the tunnel creates an interesting mandala-like pattern.
Per Azores Adventures, you can hike the 2.5 hour trail (6.62 miles) to visit this in person.
Enjoy the gorgeous cinematography and music of Probilder’s video:

I imagine myself floating over a beautiful lake. All I see for miles around is the simplicity and spender of nature. As I drift along, an opening in the lake appears off in the distance. I steer myself towards this opening, a soft and gentle waterfall appears, creating a portal to the center of the earth.
I hover for a bit to take in all the details. I hear the soothing sounds of the water as is cascades over the rocks and down into the opening. Looking into the center, I feel myself being ever so gently pulled in. My curiosity and sense of wonder compel me to slowly drift down into this calm and peaceful portal.
Softly I make my way through the opening. Reaching out I can feel the cool spray of the water as it falls down, down, down into the earth.
I now find myself below the surface of the water. At first everything appears dark and endless. As my eyes adjust to the darkness, across the way I start to see something coming into form. In an easy and relaxed manner, I move towards it to get a closer view. When I come up directly in front of it, I can see clearly what it is. It’s…
