I came across the Art Therapy Spot blog site and found this particular post (July 2014) by licensed board-certified creative arts therapist, Sara Roizen entitled Mandala  Journal Evolution and knew I had to showcase her and her art.
In that post she shares some of the mandalas she drew into her journal. This particular mandala really caught my eye. I love the circles within circles, the overlapping of circles, as well as the combination of symmetry and asymmetry both in the circles and the lines. And the random hints of orange (creativity) accentuating the entire page give it a more playful feel and liveliness.
In her post, she cites this wonderful quote:
“My mandalas were cryptograms concerning the state of the self which was presented to me anew each day…I guarded them like precious pearls….It became increasingly plain to me that the mandala is the center. It is the exponent of all paths. It is the path to the center, to individuation. ” ~ Carl Jung
If you have the chance, check out her post and the other mandalas from her journal…well worth viewing. And while we’re at it, how about we each start our own mandala journal. What a fun and creative way to help us along our journey of self discovery.
Along with being a creative arts therapist, she creates wonderful art in her own right. Check it out at www.SaraRoizen.com. I love her vinyl mandalas. I’m inspired by her creativity and may have to explore (borrow) this idea as well. 🙂
Happy Coloring!
