Extraordinary color pencil artist, Kris Mitchell, of neighboring Philomath, OR, created this mesmerizingly beautiful landscape scene capturing the simple beauty of mandala-like daisies. I love how her color pencil paintings have a quiet mystical feel to them…these daisies appear to be gleefully dancing around in the field.
About her art she states:
Fueled by a profound love of the natural world, my creation of art comes from a driving force to show the sacred landscape that surrounds me in all its complexity. I am endlessly searching for ways to express the visions in my soul. Art is the language I speak; color is my voice, design my words. Visual conceptions become my sermons. Hues forms and textures randomly intermix, unify, and commingle to give the common-place a sense of spirituality on my canvas.
To view more of her gorgeous art, check out her online gallery. And if you ever happen to be in the Willamette Valley Oregon area in late October, she hosts one of the studios for the annual Philomath Open Studios.
Kris’s magical painting encourages us to see the mystery and magic in all that surrounds us…especially in those things we tend to see as “ordinary” … like daisies.
