Today’s Mandala Message: Get It In Writing
This week I’m working through Principle #28 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Clean Up Your Messes and Your Incompletes”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of making a list of things that I need to complete, dump, or delegate. Last year a made such a list but I only focused on ones to be completed. I need to review this list to 1) delete the ones I’ve completed (…yeah, right) 2) dump the ones I really don’t want to do, 3) add ones I’ve taken on since last year, and 4) delegate, if possible.
Canfield suggests not only making a list of things that need to be completed, but also how you’ll complete each one, which makes #5 of my review process. Once you have this list, then he suggests that you choose four items and start completing them. “Choose those that would immediately free up the most time, energy, or space for you — whether it’s mental space of physical space.” He encourages us to complete at least one major one every three months.
A good mindfulness practice would be to get it in writing.
So how about you? Do you know how many incompletes you have right now? Are you willing to make a list? Are you ready to tackle that list?
“I make lists
— Mary Roach
to keep my anxiety level down.
If I write down
15 things to be done,
I lose that vague, nagging sense
that there are an overwhelming
number of things to be done,
all of which
are on the brink
of being forgotten.”
