Today’s Mandala Message: Rid Yourself of Daily Irritants

This week I’m working through Principle #28 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Clean Up Your Messes and Your Incompletes”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of ridding myself of daily irritants. It was only after I read this section of this week’s principle that I learned about the concept of daily irritants.

Canfield describes daily irritants as: “Perhaps it’s the missing button on your favorite suit that keeps you from wearing it …or the torn screen on your patio door that lets in annoying insects. One of the best things you can do to move further and faster along your success path is to fix, replace, mend, or get rid of those daily irritants that annoy you and stay on your mind.

Upon reading his description I knew instantly what he meant. Throughout my day, as I move about my home, I hear myself saying: “I need to take care of that” as I spot little things that I know would take a small amount of time to fix. But then I hear myself say: “I’ll get to it some other time.” And thus nothing changes.

He further states: “…every time you notice them and wish they were different, they pull energy from you. They are subtly subtracting energy from your life instead of adding energy to your life.”

A good mindfulness practice would be to start noticing the daily irritants.

So how about you? Are you aware of your “daily irritants”? Do you ignore them? Do they make you cringe because they remind you that you haven’t dealt with them yet?

“If you take care of
the small things,
the big things
take care of themselves.
You can gain more control
over your life
by paying closer attention
to the little things.
