Today’s Mandala Message: What’s the Fear?
This week I’m working through Principle #30 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Face What Isn’t Working”. I set my intention today to ponder what fears keep me in denial? Canfield states: “Often, denial is based on the notion that something even worse will happen once we stop denying and take action. In other words, we’re afraid to face facts squarely.”
When I look at denial as something based in fear, I can see how staying in denial appears easier or more comfortable. As I mentioned yesterday, one of my “not working” areas is being financially successful … and it’s not working because I’m not doing anything to make my business successful.
So looking at what could possibly be the fear behind it, I see where my fear of success comes into play, as well as it being a limiting belief: 1) being successful means (to me, anyway) more work, more responsibilities, thus making it more overwhelming and more stressful; 2) being successful also means (to me, anyway) the greater chance of bigger failures and/or the fear of something happening that will take it all away.
by the way…we’ll be addressing limiting beliefs in principle #32. Oh good.
A good mindfulness practice would be to sit with our fears.
So how about you? What fear or fears are behind your denials? Can you elaborate on them? What can you do to ease those fears?

trapping her
in this lonely comfort zone.
It keeps her
from facing what hurts.”
