Today’s Mandala Message: Connect with Your Original Purpose

This week I’m working through Principle #38 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Fuel Your Success with Passion and Enthusiasm”. I set my intention today to ponder the why of my goals. Canfield shares: “Another key to passion and enthusiasm is to reconnect with your original purpose for doing anything that you do. When you look underneath the surface of the things that feel like have-tos rather than want-tos, you’ll almost always find that there is a deeper purpose that you are passionate about.”

I’m currently on the second of a series of seven 4’x4’ mandala paintings. At times I feel overwhelmed by this project. The first one took seven years to finish (a long story for another time). This one is moving much faster and I already have a sense of what the third one is going to be. When I feel myself dragging or stalling or feeling overwhelmed by it, I remember how I felt when the initial idea came to me…it felt Divinely inspired. My whole body buzzed. While I may feel like I “have” to do it…like a chore…I actually feel like “I” have to do it…it’s my job…a job I’m blessed and honored to do. That’s when I feel the passion and the enthusiasm to move forward on it.

A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder what is at the heart of your goal(s).

So what about you? Do you remember the why of your goal(s)? What’s the deeper purpose of your goal(s)? Are you able to reconnect with that purpose?
