Today’s Mandala Message: Make Use of a To-Do List
This week I’m working through Principle #40 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Redefine Time”. I set my intention today to ponder the value of to-do lists. Continuing with yesterday’s reference to the post on TimelyApp.com entitled: “5 Essential Time Management Techniques”, I chose their technique #1: To-Do Lists. They state: “Drawing up a to-do list might not seem like a groundbreaking technique, but it’s one of the most powerful ways to become more productive. …It effectively lays out what you must complete – all tasks that pop up outside of it are secondary – and if your mind does wander, a quick glance at your list reminds you of what you should be doing. Keeping a to-do list also allows you to enjoy one of life’s unique pleasures: visualizing what you want to achieve, and then striking your way through it.”
I’m a big fan of to-do lists although of late, I’ve been remiss in using them and thus have found myself floundering trying to figure out what to do next. When I keep a list, my day seems more organized and clear-cut. It also takes what I need to do out of my over-thinking head. With it written down, I can let go of it and focus better on the task at hand.
A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder the idea of maintaining a daily to-do list.
So how about you? Do you take advantage of to-do lists? Do you prefer to go with the flow of the day, to deal with things as they come up? Do you find yourself floundering about trying to figure out what do next?
“One of the secrets
— Jean le La Fontaine
of getting more done
is to make a TO-DO List
every day,
keep it visible,
and use it as a guide
to action as you go
through the day.”
