Today’s Mandala Message: Set Boundaries
This week I’m working through Principles #42 and #43 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Just Say No!” and “Say No to the Good so That you Can Say Yes to the Great” respectively. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of setting boundaries. Canfield states that if you want to increase your results “You will have to structure your work so that you are focusing your time, effort, energies, and resources only on projects, opportunities, and people that give you a huge reward for your efforts. You are going to have to create strong boundaries about what you will and won’t do.”
This makes be think of the axiom of “everything comes down to time versus money”. Which begs the question “Is this (project, task, person, etc) worth my time, or is it worth it to pay someone else to do it?” Often times when I think about using my time to do a task, (thinking I’m saving money), I realize that it’s going to take more time than it’s worth …that my time could be better spent doing what I do best (with a better opportunity for success). In that case, I look to find someone who I’m happy to have do it for me. Granted, there are times when I may be lacking the funds to hire someone, which in that case, I consider other options: either change the process or eliminate it.
btw…I love the Egyptian feel of this coloring…as least that’s how it feels to me. You may feel otherwise.
A good mindfulness practice would be to consider creating more effective boundaries as to what you will and won’t do.
So how about you? Do you have a clear sense of what you will or won’t do? What are you willing to pass onto someone else? What are you willing to stop doing?
