Today’s Mandala Message: Determine What’s Truly Great
This week I’m working through Principles #42 and #43 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Just Say No!” and “Say No to the Good so That you Can Say Yes to the Great” respectively. I set my intention today to ponder what’s truly great versus what’s just good. Canfield offers a four-step process to help determine what’s truly great.
Step One: “Start by listing your opportunities—one side of the page for good and the other side for great. Seeing options in writing will help crystalize your thinking and determine what questions to ask, what information to gather, what your plan of attack might be, and so on. It will help you decide if an opportunity truly fits with your overall life purpose and passion or if it’s just life taking you down a side road.”
I do find myself wondering if what I’m doing is a waste of time, a distraction, or a side road versus what’s truly in alignment with what I want to create for myself. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I’m really busy working on my projects, when the reality may be that I’m doing these things because they seem easier, are in my comfort zone, and more importantly that because I have some fear about my bigger goals and dreams, it’s safer to do these other things.
I plan to work on Canfield steps over the next few days. And I’ll share the remaining three steps tomorrow.
A good mindfulness practice would be consider what opportunities of yours are truly great.
So how about you? Are you aware of the qualities of your opportunities? Are they good? Are they great? Can you easily discern the difference?
“Luck?
— Lucille Ball
I don’t know anything about luck.
I’ve never banked on it
and I’m afraid of people who do.
Luck to me is something else:
Hard work –
and realizing
what is opportunity
and what isn’t.”
Blessings,
