Today’s Mandala Message: Consider Having an Accountability Partner
This week I’m working through Principle #46 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Mastermind Your Way to Success”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of having an accountability partner. Canfield states: “Instead of a mastermind group, you might choose to work with what I call an accountability partner. The two of you agree to a set of goals that each is working toward and agree to talk regularly by phone to hold each other accountable for meeting deadlines, accomplishing goals, and making progress.”
So now that I’ve read this section of Principle #46, I realize that the two informal “mastermind” groups I’m in are more like having accountability partners. In one case the other person and I have a common goal: work through each unit of our French workbooks together\…we’re averaging a unit a week. In the other case, the other person and I have different goals/projects and yet we’re both at a similar level of progress with each. Each week we share our progress and then we share what we plan to accomplish by the following week. In both cases my partners and I help each other, listen to each other, brainstorm together and cheer for each other. I’m grateful to have them both.
A good mindfulness practice would be contemplate having an accountability partner.
So how about you? If a mastermind group isn’t a good fit for you, would you consider having an accountability partner? Would having such a partner help you to keep on track with your projects/goals? What would you want in an accountability partner?
