Today’s Mandala Message: Ask Questions of Your Intuition
This week I’m working through Principle #47 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Inquire Within”. I set my intention today to ponder asking questions of my intuition and how to ask them. Canfield states: “Your intuition can provide you with the answers to anything you need to know. Ask questions that begin with “Should I …” and “What should I do about …? and “How can I …? “ and “What can I do to …?”
I understand his point of asking questions of our intuition, however I prefer more empowering questions that begin with something like “Is it in my best interest and the highest good of all to …?” or “How best can I …?” I have also found it important to be crystal clear with my questions and to include a time frame when appropriate because it may be that right now it’s not in my best interest to do something but six months from now it would be.
For instance if you had a question like “Is it in my best interest and the highest good of all to move?” A couple things about this question make it vague and challenging for your intuition to answer: a lack of when, a lack of who specifically, and also “move what?” move your body, move some furniture, move out of the house, move out of the country, and so on. A more effective question would be something like: “Is it in my best interest and the highest good of all for me to move to and live in Toledo, OH within the next six months?”
Another important point: make the questions about you. Asking questions about other people is outside the realm of your intuition and also a most inappropriate use of your intuition. There’s a lot more I could go into about asking questions but it would take too long. Just practice, start with easy questions first (what to eat for dinner, what task to do next, etc), make it about you, and be specific with your questions so that your intuition has a better chance of giving you an accurate answer.
A good mindfulness practice would be to practice asking questions of your intuition and then listening for the answer.
So how about you? Are you open to asking questions of your intuition? Do you trust your intuition? What questions do you want to ask of your intuition?
