Today’s Mandala Message: Ask Powerful Questions…and Answer Them as Well
This week I’m working through Principle #48 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Be Hear Now”. I set my intention today to ponder asking (and answering) some powerful questions. Canfield shares four questions that he learned from Dan Sullivan’s “Strategic Coach Program”. About the questions Canfield states: “It is one of the most effective ways to establish rapport and create a feeling of connection with another person. … Use these questions with every potential business client or business colleague. Once they have answered, you’ll know whether or not there is a basis for a business relationship. … Make sure to take yourself through the same four questions…it’s a valuable exercise.” While he suggests these questions of potential business relationships, he did make a point that he also asked these questions of his family and staff…as well as of himself.
Here are the questions:
- “If we were meeting three years from today, what has to have happened during that three-year period for you to feel happy about your progress?”
- ”What are the biggest dangers you’ll have to face and deal with in order to achieve that progress?”
- ”What are the biggest opportunities that you have that you would need to focus on and capture to achieve those things?”
- ”What strengths will you need to reinforce and maximize, and what skills and resources will you need to develop that you don’t currently have in order to capture those opportunities?”
While I have a general idea of how I would answer some of these questions, I’m going to wait to do them with my accountability buddy, so that we can both help each other through the process. I’ll update this post with my answers at a later date.
A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder your answers to these powerful questions.
So how about you? How would you answer those four questions? What insights do you think you would gain by answering them? Would you consider asking these questions of others?

ask better questions,
and as a result,
they get better answers.”
