Today’s Mandala Message: Overcome the Fear of Rejection
This week I’m working through Principles #50 and #51 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Tell the Truth Faster” and “Speak with Impeccability”. I set my intention today to ponder how I may be holding back my truth. Canfield states: “…it takes a lot of energy to hold back our truth, and that energy, when it is released, can be used to focus on creating greater success in all areas of our lives. We can become less cautious and more spontaneous, more willing to be our natural selves. And when this happens, information that is vital to making things work and to getting things done can be shared and acted on.”
This week we’ll be coming from several different angles of telling the truth. Today it’s about telling our own truth. I know that one of the biggest reasons for me to hold back on telling my truth is the fear of being ridiculed, laughed at, rejected, or being made to feel less than or not enough. I know I said “one” and listed several…they are all pretty much are different sides of the same “rejection” coin.
From an article by Lisa Fritscher on VeryWellMind.com about overcoming the fear of rejection, she states: “So instead of avoiding situations where you might experience rejection, focus on putting yourself out there and tackling your fear. Once you have more experience facing your fear, you’ll begin to recognize that the consequences are less anxiety-provoking than you anticipated. You’ll also gain greater confidence in your own abilities to succeed.”
Intellectually, I know what Fritscher is saying is correct. I’ve proven it to myself multiply times…it just seems as I increase the level of “putting myself out there”, so does the fear increase. I’ve been wanting to up my game for about a year now, and I can feel myself getting closer to making that happen…essentially I’m just one step away. Seeing Fritscher’s article today, gives me an added boost forward.
BTW…while writing this post, I got a major case of the hiccups. In looking up “hiccups” in Wendi Jensen’s “The Healing Questions Guide” she poses the question: “What fleeting fear just got trapped in my body?” Well that’s quite the coincidence! And her affirmation for it is “I bring my body back into a state of peace. I am gentle and calm within. All is well. Peace, be still.”
A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder where in your life you are holding back your truth.
So how about you? What truths about you are you holding back? What fear(s) come up that keeps you from speaking your truth? And how does that fear (or fears) play out in your life?
“Don’t let your fear of criticism

suffocate your leadership potential.
Once you begin to speak your truth,
you will discover the people
who have been waiting
for someone exactly like you.
Until you speak up,
all you need is the faith
that they exist.
And I promise you:
they do.”
