Today’s Mandala Message: Be Responsible for Your Agreements
This week I’m working through Principle #54 “Keep Your Agreements”. I set my intention today to ponder being responsible for my agreements. One of the rules Canfield shares regarding “playing by the rules” with your agreements is: “Be responsible. No blaming, no defending, no justifying, and no shaming.” To me, taking responsibility for your agreements means to honor them. If for some reason you’re not able to, then either have a Plan B or let those who are part of the agreement know as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m still procrastinating on the web site I volunteered to maintain. I mentioned it a few days ago in a previous post and yet here I am stalling. The part of me that keeps putting it off dreads it because last year when I did it, it took 3-4 times longer than it should have and I’m afraid it’s going to be the same again this year. Which brings up another higher vibrational part of me that reminds me that I can set an intention as to how it can actually go this time. So that’s what I’m going to do. I’m setting the intention right now that tomorrow, Sat. Nov 4, I will be responsible about doing the work I agreed to do and that I will able to update the web site quickly, easily, and joyfully.
A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder how you can take responsibility for an agreement you’ve been putting off.
So how about you? Do you have an agreement that you’ve been putting off doing? What do you see as the reason for procrastinating on it? Can you come up with an intention to help you follow through on completing it?
“Wherever you are,
— Eckhart Tolle
be there totally.
If you find
your here and now intolerable
and it makes you unhappy,
you have three options:
remove yourself from the situation,
change it,
or accept it totally.
If you want to take responsibility
for your life,
you must choose
one of those three options,
and you must choose now.
Then accept the consequences.”
