23-319 Change Your Beliefs About Money #4

Today’s Mandala Message: Turn Around Your Limiting Beliefs

This week I’m working through Principle #56 “Develop a Positive Money Consciousness”. I set my intention today to ponder turning around my limiting beliefs about money. Canfield states: “You can change this early programming using a simple yet powerful three-step technique that replaces your limiting beliefs with more positive and empowering ones.” Here are his three steps:

  1. write down you limiting belief
  2. challenge, make fun of, and argue with the limiting belief
  3. create a positive turnaround statement

He used the limiting belief “Money is the root of all evil” as an example. For step 2. he came up with a list of new beliefs that challenge the old ones. He suggests making them as outrageous and fun as we can. For instance he offered: “Money is the root of all philanthropy” and “Money is the root of great vacations.” He also suggests that we repeat our new beliefs daily, maybe post them where we can readily see them. While step 2 is more of a brainstorming session, step 3 has us creating an opposite belief from the old one, a new belief that positively resonates with us. For his example he came up with: “When it comes to me, money is the root of love, joy, and good works.

Thinking of one of the limiting beliefs I mentioned earlier this week, I’m leaning towards this as my positive turnaround statement: “When it comes to managing my money, I make wise, informed decisions.” What would your come up with?

A good mindfulness practice would be ponder a positive turnaround statement for one of your money-related limiting beliefs.

So how about you? Are you open to changing your beliefs about money? Does Canfield’s three-step technique seem like a possible way to work through them? If not, how would you turn around your limiting beliefs?

“You can plant any idea
into the subconscious mind
by repetition of thought
infused with a positive expectancy
and the emotion associated
with already having it.”

— Jack Canfield
