Today’s Mandala Message: Decide

My apologies…this is a long one. Kudos if you can make it all the way through. 💜

This week I’m working through Principle #57 “You Get What You Focus On”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of making a decision. Canfield states: “When I was in graduate school, I decided to become wealthy. … I wanted to be able to do whatever I wanted, when ever I wanted, wherever I wanted, for as long as I wanted. If you want wealth, too, you must decide now from the deepest place in your heart to have wealth in your life—without worrying yet if it’s possible or not.” Pretty much the main focus of principles #56-62 are about success and money. In my mind, the two don’t necessary have to go hand-in-hand.

While this principle focuses on attaining wealth and all that may hinder or help it, my focus is more about applying the principle in more general terms. Probably one of the biggest stumbling blocks to being successful with ANYTHING, is at the beginning when we take that necessary first step of DECIDING to move forward on our goal(s). Until we do, they’re just some ideas dangling in the wind like leaves on a tree.

I’m actually in this situation right now with 5 of my project ideas…I keep hemming and hawing around them without doing anything about them…they’re just taking up valuable real estate in my psyche. I going to share them here (and what my issue is with them) in hopes that writing them out will be just the spark I need to decide once and for all to do them or not.

Idea #1: Do a Podcast. I know, everybody’s got a podcast. What could I possibly have to do or say that isn’t being said by everybody else? My issue here is I don’t know what exactly I would do, I just know I’m feeling the pull to do one. My Decision: Today I will decide 1) whether to do a podcast or not, 2) if I decide to do it, I will connect with my Team tomorrow to determine its purpose, 3) if I decide not to do it, I’ll determine whether it’s a final decision or if it’s something to review in say 3 or 6 months.

Idea #2: Do Zoom Group Sessions. I’m unsure whether these need to be intuitive/psychic readings or mandala meditation session…or maybe it needs to be something else … or all of the above. Either way, I see it as a way to help more people and reach a broader audience. Since I’d be just starting out, I would probably do them for free at first to get a feel for it, or to see if it’s something that would be well received. Like the Podcast idea, I’m unsure of what to do or if it’s worthwhile, thus the procrastination. My Decision: Today I will decide 1) whether this is something that’s in my best interest to do, 2) if so, I will connect with my Team tomorrow for insight and guidance to determine its purpose and then go from there, 3) if not, then determine if this is a final decision or if it’s something to do at a later time…6 months, a year from now, etc.

Idea #3: A New Mandala Coloring Book: The trend of coloring books from grown-ups as long since peaked. 15 years ago I self-published 20 different coloring books. At the time they were popular to people who knew about them. Now I feel like they need to be taken to a new level. My sense is that it’s to be more of a meditation or spiritual coloring practice. I just don’t know, thus the procrastination on this idea. My Decision: Today I will decide 1) whether such a coloring book is in my best interest to do, 2) if so, I will connect with my Team tomorrow for insight and guidance as to its purpose and then go from there, 3) if not, then determine if this is a final decision or if it’s something to do some other time…6 months, a year from now, etc.

Idea #4: Oracle Decks: This year I created 5 oracle decks and professionally printed one of each deck. I used the artwork from all 365 Mandalas of the Day from 2022. The few people who have seen them, love them. My hold-up here is I’m not sure how to promote them, whether I should find a publishing company to take care of the printing/selling of them, or if I should have a bunch of them printed for me to sell. While I’m proud of myself for actually following through on making them, now I’m stumped as to how to move forward. My Decision: Today, with insight and guidance from my Team, I will decide whether to (1) pursue a publishing company to print/sell them, (2) continue self-publishing them and let that printing company sell them, or (3) continue self-publishing them and buy a ‘bunch’ of them from me to sell via fairs, stores, and/or from my web site.

Idea #5: Book for Oracle Decks: Now that the oracle decks are done, I’m unsure about creating a book or booklet to go with them. Currently the last 5 cards of each deck list all the cards with their title and short message. With a book or booklet, I could go into more detail about how best to use the cards and offer a more in-depth description of each one. The thing is, every Mandala of the Day from 2022 is a separate blog post with a write-up explaining that day’s mandala. So a write-up for them already exists. I also have a website for the decks where I could put a lot of this information as well. A couple of my friends who have seen and used the decks, say that I really don’t need anything more. I don’t know what to do? My Decision: Today, with the help of my Team, I will decide if a book/booklet is needed for these decks. If yes, then I will seek guidance tomorrow as to my next step. If not, then I will determine if this is a final decision or something that could be put off for 3-6-12 months or longer.

So to summarize, today I’m going to make a decision about each of these ideas; whether to move forward with them, hold off, or eliminate them. That’s it…all I need is a yea or nae today. Tomorrow I can figure out the next step.

I can see where just making the decision will make my life easier in that now I have some direction. For most of us, me included, making a decision is usually the hardest part of any idea. Once it’s made though, we can finally get some movement one way or another. (See A. Earhart’s quote below…I use this one a lot).

A good mindfulness practice would be to make a decision today about something you’ve been putting off.

So how about you? How are you with making decisions? Is there an idea/project you’ve been putting off doing? What would it take for you to decide, once and for all, whether to act or to let it go?

“The most difficult thing
is the decision to act,
the rest is merely tenacity.
The fears are paper tigers.
You can do
anything you decide to do.
You can act
to change and control your life;
and the procedure, the process
is its own reward.”
