Today’s Mandala Message: Money is Energy
This week I’m working through Principle #57 “You Get What You Focus On”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of money as energy. In Maria Nemith’s book “The Energy of Money” she states: “Our relationship with money calls on us to wake up, to see how we are handling all kinds of energy—not only money but time, physical vitality, enjoyment, creativity, and the support of friends—and to use those lessons to enrich every aspect of our lives.”
From Cherisse Glenn on LetItGo.com, she states: “Before there was money as we know it, people would barter for things—your energy in exchange for my energy, trading your eggs for a farmer’s corn or pelts from a hunter for a need of the hunter. In modern society, the physical energy used is now replaced with paper money assigned a value, but the energy exchange is still the same. … To get what we want, we trade our money (energy) for something else’s value (energy). It is a give-and-take. … However, because we have lost touch with the concept of energy exchange, we have become confused about what value is.”
She suggests changing out the word “money” for “energy” in our limiting beliefs about money. It would give us a whole different perspective on “money”. For instance:
”energy is the root of all evil”
”energy doesn’t grow on trees”
”there will never be enough energy”
“you are greedy if you want energy”
”only rich people have energy”
Glenn further states: “To attract money into our lives and keep it requires changing our perspective. A belief is a thought that we keep thinking. Change the thought, change the situation. By changing the stories we grew up believing were true and then creating new ones, we will be able to manifest abundance.”
In essence, money is a tool we use to represent the exchange of energy. I spend time and energy creating my art. Someone comes along, sees the art (the value) and gives me money for it. The buyer had extended her energy someplace else and someone else appreciated her efforts/energy and gave her money in exchange for what she offered. And so it goes, on and on.
For me, the idea of seeing money as energy, or the exchange of energy, helps reframe my limiting beliefs about it.
A good mindfulness practice would be to contemplate the idea of money being energy.
So how about you? Are you able to see money as energy? Does it change your perspective to see money in that light? What would your limiting beliefs about money sound like if you took out the word “money” and replaced it with the word “energy”?
“You can only become

truly accomplished
at something you love.
Don’t make money your goal.
Instead, pursue the things
you love doing,
and then do them so well
that people can’t take their eyes off you.”
