Today’s Mandala Message: The Time to Save is Now
This week I’m working through Principle #58 “Pay Yourself first” of Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles”. I set my intention today to ponder the importance of having some form of savings or investment account. Canfield states: “Most people wait to start saving until they have some extra money lying around. … But it doesn’t work like that. You have to starting saving and investing for the future NOW!”
I did the google thing to find simple ways to save and invest money and mostly what I found were cost-savings sites, which are of course helpful too. Along the way I did find some sites where you could invest your money if you’re on a low budget. One site promoted that you could invest for as little as $5. This involves what they call buying fractional stocks or stock slices, where you buy a portion of a stock share.
I’m not here to promote any of those sites but I will suggest that if you’re interested in going the investment route and have a low budget, this may be the way to go.
One strategy I did see repeatedly while on the google, was creating and maintaining a budget. This is something I’ve toyed with but have yet to do. I see the value in it and I’m beginning to embrace the idea of taking more responsibility with my money, especially my spending. I did set up a spending app that I will begin on December 1.
If you’re interested, I found a couple of sites that offered interesting and mostly doable ways to save and/or make money (this is not an endorsement of any kind, they seemed like interesting sites, so I thought I’d share): 50 Ways to Make Money This Month, 8 Simple Ways to Save Money, and From NerdWallet How to Save Money
A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder the different ways you can save money and grow your money.
So how about you? Do you have a system that helps you save money? Do you have savings account or some “account” where you can save your money? Are you able to invest some of your earnings?
