23-350 Be of Service #7

Today’s Mandala Message: Is What You Offer Beneficial to the Public?

This week I’m working through Principles #61 and #62: Give More to Get More and Find a Way to Serve of Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles”. We continue with more money principles (56-62) and our relationship with it. I set my intention today to ponder if what I offer is beneficial to humankind. Canfield states: “Serving others can also consist of focusing your company’s mission on producing products and services that are beneficial to [humankind].” A study done by Sir John Marks Templeton discovered that over a 50-year period “the best long-term results flowed to those who focused on providing increasingly beneficial products and services.”

Templeton states that “Whatever one does, [they] first should ask, ‘In the long run, is this really useful to the public’?” And Canfield further states: “Think about the possibility that when you choose to do work that uplifts and serves, that brings people ‘increasingly beneficial’ products and services, when your efforts are focused on giving rather than getting, then you are going to eventually receive back more than you have given.”

I’d like to think that what I offer through my Mandalas of the Day/Week/Month/Year are of benefit to the public. My intent is to uplift and empower creativity in people through the art of mandalas. Earlier this month, a woman I hadn’t seen in over 10 years let me know that she still makes us of what she learned from me back then. She also has been sharing what she learned with others and that, to me she said, “you have no idea how many people you have helped indirectly because of it”. It made my day to receive confirmation that what I’m offering is helping others.

A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder ways in which what you offer helps other people.

So how about you? What products and/or services that you offer are intended to be useful to the public? If you’re thinking about starting a business, in what way would your offering be of service? Are you more likely to buy from companies that offer increasingly beneficial products and/or services?

”You can get
anything in life you want
if you will just help
enough other people
get what they want.”
