Today’s Mandala Message: Be Kind to Yourself

This week I’m working through Principle #63: Start Now!…Just Do it! of Jack Canfield’s book “The Success Principles”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of being kind to myself with regards to my projects. From MindTools.com about stopping procrastination they state: “Be kind to yourself. No one ever gets to the end of their to-do list! Do your best to meet your deadlines, and celebrate your successes. But be realistic: you’ll always have more to do than there are hours in the day.

Sometimes I wonder if by having a lot on my to-do list, it gives me the opportunity to continuing berating myself…in other words perpetuating the dialog I’ve heard all my life…externally and internally.

We are eight days out from a new year. Now seems like a good time to create more success-oriented to-do lists by 1) editing down my to-do list to a realistic number, 2) creating smaller/simpler tasks, and 3) celebrating my successes.

A good mindfulness practice would be to discover ways to be kind to yourself with regards to your to-do lists.

So how about you? To you tend to be hard on yourself for procrastinating? Do you tend to set yourself up for procrastinating by having too many things on your to-do list? What’s one act of kindness you can do for yourself with regards to your to-do list?

“Remember
you have been
criticizing yourself
for years
and it hasn’t worked.
Try approving of yourself
and see what happens.”
