“peaceful, quiet, without worry”
On 24-003 we used the value word “calmness”, which described the “quality” of being free from agitation. Today’s MotD is more about the verb “calm”…to calm ourselves, from the inside out.
In order for our outside world to be more calm, we must establish the calm from within. Conscious breathing works best for me and if I’m able to do so, going for a walk in nature is ideal. Ultimately it requires being in the present moment, bringing my awareness to the inside. I also find placing my hand over my heart while I deep breathe helps align my heart with my breath. From there I “breathe” into the rest of my body, relaxing each part as I scan for spots of tension or anxiety.
Once I “calm” myself, I’m better able to assess my current situation, thus allowing me to better determine my next plan of action…which may to do absolutely nothing…because there’s probably nothing to really worry about in that moment.
How about you? Is calm a core value for you?
btw…here’s what it looked like before:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
