“the relationships you have with other people around you”
In my “old” age I’ve become particular about who I have around me. Honestly, most of the time I prefer to be alone…because most of what I love to do are solo endeavors. That being said, I have a few key people that I enjoy being around…they’re uplifting, funny, smart, open, and so on.
Here’s what Brené Brown says about connection:
“Connection is why we’re here. We are hardwired to connect with others, it’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering.”
And here’s one from Rumi:
“We’re all just walking each other home.”
For me, social connection is about supporting and uplifting each other, helping others in ways that we are able to help, as well as asking for help and support from others. It’s also about coming together in joy, to play together, to laugh together, to celebrate.
The other aspect of social connection is the exponential power of joining together as one. When two people come together rather than doubling the energy, it triples: the energy of each one (A, B) plus the combined energy of the two (A+B). When it’s three people, it expands to seven: the energy of each one (A, B, C), plus the combined energy of each pairing (AB, AC, BC), plus the combined energy of all three (A+B+C). And so no. When “they” say there’s power in numbers, I know it to be absolutely true.
If you can, watch this played out in the animated movie “A Bug’s Life”…(one of my all time favorites).
How about you? Is social connection a core value for you?
btw…here’s what it looked like before:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
