”eager to know or learn of something”
I already know that this is one of my core values: being curious. I’ve always wanted to know the “why” of things…especially as a kid because it seemed grown-ups tended to keep lots of secrets…of course they were doing it for our own good…trying to keep us “safe” and “protected” from all manner of things. This just made me even more curious!
In the last 25 years I’ve become most curious when it comes to mandalas and my creative expressions of them. I tend to want to try new things, new ways of doing my art, to explore new avenues of expression, seeking to push the envelop of my potential.
I have found that once I learn how to do something, I tend to want to do it differently the next time…as if to say “I’ve climbed that mountain, now let’s climb another”. As I try new things, it triggers my curiosity to explore variations of that “thing” until I’ve exhausted it or transformed it into an entirely new direction.
I’m so grateful to all the creative expressionists out there (artists, crafters, artisans, diy’ers, and the like) who share videos online of what they do…they inspire me to be curious about how I can incorporate their unique methods into what I do.
I’d like to think I’ll forever be in “what if” mode…what if I did it this way? what if I tried it that way? what if I combined the two? and so on … the “What if” mode.
BTW…the painted papers for this latest batch of MotDs (starting with 24-049), were created using a new-to-me technique of using a squeegee to smear paint across large pieces of watercolor paper. When I make the next batch, I’ll try using a different set of colors—probably pastels or monochromatic.
How about you? Is curiosity a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
