Positivity

”the practice of being optimistic in life”

I love how the definition I found for “positivity” calls it a practice…because that’s what it takes…practice. I know from personal experience that when I approach something from a place of positivity, the outcome is also positive…sometimes more positive than I thought possible.

Just today I had to go to Portland for an appointment. It can take 1.5 – 2 hours to get there…depending on traffic. Rain was predicted for the whole day. I would much rather do that long drive on a dry day…something about rain on I-5 seems to make drivers drive crazier than usual. In checking GPS, I also saw that there were three major traffic jams up near Portland. Oh bother!

So as I prepared to leave my driveway and being a bit nervous about driving in the rain, I set my intention to arrive safely, quickly, and with ease … and that I arrive in plenty of time for my appointment. I also did some reiki on my car for added protection. I did the same before leaving Portland to come. Then all I had to do was just focus on my driving, while listening to episodes of comedian Kathleen Madigan’s podcasts…up and back.

It turned out to be one of the easiest drives I’ve done in a long time and I arrived well ahead of my appointment. Reaffirming what I have found to be true for me: creating positive intentions for what I want to have happen, helps me to live an optimistic life.

How about you? Is positivity a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
