Celebration
”doing something special and enjoyable for an important occasion or achievement”
When I think of celebration, at least up until now, I think of some kind of big event that commemorates something big…and it usually involves going above and beyond the norm. Today’s MotD, however, is reminding me (us) to celebrate ALL the wins, regardless of how big or how small.
And here’s the thing, no one else has to be around or even know of our occasion or achievement that we’re celebrating. It could be any gesture that we offer to ourselves that acknowledges what happened. We could high-five ourselves in the mirror. We could give ourselves a pat on the back (actually more like the top of our shoulders). We could gift ourselves something. We could allow ourselves a few moments of being proud of ourselves.
The point is, we’re being encouraged to celebrate ourselves more. For instance this afternoon I did a new-to-me 2-hour event where I offered mini readings from my oracle decks. The event was outside…and being that it’s March and Oregon, it was chilly, windy, and off-and-on raining, with dabs of sunshine here and there. Thankfully I was in a structure that had an overhang and a back wall so that I wouldn’t get wet.
Even though the conditions weren’t ideal, I made a couple of new connections for some future opportunities that I would not have had, had I opted to stay home instead. And…I was able to do some reading with my oracles decks for the first time. That went amazingly well and they were well received.
Normally, I wouldn’t think of celebrating such an event…pass it off as something I tried and that I may do again…and yet, I’m feeling inspired to congratulate myself for putting myself out there, trying something new, and making new connections. And now…most definitely, I will do this event again next month…it feels like a starting point of a new direction, a new adventure, a new quest (follow the yellow brick road). And then in May, when this event happens weekly, I’ll be there every possible week that I can make it.
BTW…I just gave myself a pat on the back/shoulder. It feels good.
BTW #2: We are all worthy of celebration!
How about you? Is celebration a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
