Wealth
”abundant supply”
When I see the word wealth I mostly think of it in terms of money. I forget that the word can apply to many things: a wealth of knowledge, a wealth of experiences, a wealth of friends, and so on. It’s not that striving for money is a bad thing…it’s just that it’s best that it not be the only thing.
Today’s MotD asks us to see where in our lives do we have an “abundant supply”. Now I have to jump in here for a moment to talk about my resistance to the word “abundant/abundance”. Often times these days, the word is used to imply something positive as in affirmations: “I strive for abundance” or “I welcome abundance into my life” or “I live an abundant life”…and so on. It’s like that old joke about wishing for a million bucks, and then see a million deer roaming your yard.
Here’s the thing…”abundance” is neutral, meaning you can have an abundance of good things as well as bad things: an abundance of clutter, an abundance of excess fat, an abundance of dept. For me (and again, this is in response to my trigger with the “A” word), I prefer to use the word prosperity because to me it has a more positive, clearer definition. (It’s one of the value words coming up later this year.)
All that being said…when it comes to wealth (abundant supply), be clear on the wealth you want and your why of it. My sense is that we are better served on our earthly journey to experience a wealth of joy, a wealth of peace, a wealth of healthy relationships, a wealth of knowledge, a wealth of triumphs…think of George Bailey in “It’s a Wonderful Life”. In order words, there’s more than one way to be wealthy.
How about you? Is wealth a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
