Niceness
“a courteous manner that respects accepted social usage”
I was raised to always be nice, courteous, respectful, and polite. It saddens me to see that nowadays, this sentiment is losing ground rapidly. The silly thing is…it’s quite easy to be courteous, respectful, and so on. I get it though…more people seem to be angry and frustrated and thus take it out on everyone around them. It’s difficult to be nice when all you really want to do is lash out.
As I said, I was raised to be nice, courteous, and considerate of others. And yet, over time I noticed that while I was all those nice things, I noticed that it was not always reciprocated. Over time, I became more frustrated and resentful: why should I be considerate of others, when no one else is to me? I had this major inner conflict going on between the two.
I eventually noticed that when I was nice/considerate/etc, I felt better about myself even if what I did was overlooked. I felt elevated and uplifted. When I was inconsiderate or not nice, I noticed that I felt worse about myself. I felt deflated and low. So while it’s not always easy to be in a state of niceness, I recognize the value in it. I would much feel uplifted than deflated.
BTW…to me this image looks like a giant tulip. In looking up its symbolism I found this version that best describes today’s MotD energy:
…[they] radiate warmth and positivity, echoing the vibrant rays of the sun. This color is a celebration of joy, happiness, and friendship. [They] convey feelings of appreciation and camaraderie. [They] are the embodiment of the sun’s energy, bringing a touch of radiance to any occasion.”

How about you? Is niceness a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with…

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
