Diligence
“the quality of working carefully and with a lot of effort”
Diligence would most likely have been a core value for my father. He had a strong work ethic and believed in the value of hard work. While we didn’t always appreciate it growing up, his standards have stayed with me and brothers all these years later. Although I have since learned to value the idea of working smarter whenever possible.
The challenge with “diligence” is to avoid perfectionism. More than once I have found myself checking, rechecking, tweaking, and fine-tuning down to the tiniest of details, when it would have been good enough 2 hours ago—after all, perfectionism is a form of procrastination which is a form of fear.
My/our quest is to consider applying healthy doses of diligence in all that I/we do.
