Vivaciousness
“the quality of being lively and exciting”
I think I’ll pass on “vivaciousness” being a core value for me. It exhausts me just to think about something being lively and exciting all of the time. I can take it in small doses but these days I prefer calm and peaceful.
It used to be that I would become lively and excited about riding roller coasters. Back in the late 1990s, when we lived in Florida (Atlantic side), a group of us would go to Busch Gardens in Tampa twice a year…just after Easter and just after Halloween. Sadly, my understanding is that Busch Gardens isn’t the same (as good) as it was 25 years.
Anyway, we would divide ourselves up into groups: visit the animals group, roam the park group, easy rides group, and the roller coaster group. I joined the latter group every time. I would get so excited about riding the coasters that as soon as I got off one of them, I’d run back in line to ride it again and again and again. My favorite ride was Montu, an inverted coaster…what a smooth yet exciting ride that is. The fact that it has an Egyptian theme to it is a bonus.
Of course the mecca of roller coasters, at least in the U.S. is Cedar Pointe, OH. We rode rollers coasters for 5 days in a row when we went there in the early 2000s. If I had to pick a favorite it would have to be Dragster. Of course new rides have been added since.
So what is it about roller coasters? I think it has something to do with going on these death-defying rides, knowing that you aren’t going to die (at least the odds are in your favor that you won’t die). Would I still like to ride them? Sure. Unfortunately there aren’t any coaster parks near me. I’d have to fly to get to any of the good ones…and with air travel the way it is these days, meh…not worth it.
Sadly, it used to be that flying was fun and exciting; now it’s as much fun as being in a sardine can with wings. No thanks.
How about you? Is vivaciousness a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with…

joyfully,
Maureen

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
