Punctuality
“the quality of being on time”
Einstein said that time is relative…and in some cultures, they live by that theory. In most modern cultures, however, time is critical, it is of the essence, hurry up, we need it ASAP. I for one have always struggled with being on time…both in the literal and figurative sense. Today I’ll focus more on the figuratively.
For years I had nightmares about missing the school bus…and I had already been out of school for years when they started happening. I didn’t start my “womanhood” until a couple of years after all my girlfriends did…it was Groundhog’s Day. I started my first college degree when most students my age were already graduating. I started my second college degree in my late 20s. As a newly graduated/hired software engineer, I was at least 10 years older than the other newly graduated/hired ones. My art career started when I turned 48. At 70, I’m getting ready to go into a whole new phase of my art career.
With today’s MotD, we’re being encouraged to not be DIScouraged when things are not happening fast enough or slow enough for us. We need to stop judging or criticizing ourselves because our “timing” may be off. We also need to stop comparing our timing to other people’s timing.
Lately I’ve been following these two different 7 yos who are already well on their way to their respective major careers. One, a fashion designer…yes, you heard me…has already had his first major runway show. Of course my first reaction to them is, I should just give up…it’s too late for me…to which I immediately rewrite that script in my head…
Thankfully, I’m reminded of what my ToGAs* always tell us: “we have all the time we need to do what we need to do…even if it takes a couple of life times to do it in.”
How about you? Is punctuality a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
