Sophistication

“the quality of having experience, knowledge, and understanding of the world”

The key to sophistication is the willingness to gain experience, knowledge, and understanding of the world…both the world around us and within us. And actually, if we want to have a better understanding of the world around us, it behooves us to start with our inner world first.

As we gain more insight into how we, ourselves, operate, on all levels, we gain more insight into the outer world…especially when it comes to delving into our shadow self…the deep, underbelly of our psyche. (Yikes, that sounds dark and heavy.) Actually, it’s not really.

A more appropriate way to understand our shadow self, is to see it as our wounded self. On the battlefield of our soul, our younger self lies hurt, scared, and in need of healing and attention. Do we continue to ignore it or do we send in the medic? Think of it this way, if we saw a wounded child in the playground, would we look away or would we help? That’s all we’re asking. Be willing to make that journey to experience, learn about, and understand our whole self.

Well, that went in a completely different direction than I thought it would. I think my Scorpio Sun/Saturn conjunction took over the writing of this post. If you made it this far, many blessings to you on your journey…it will be worth it.

How about you? Is sophistication a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
