Focused

“giving a lot of attention to one particular thing”

I often struggle with being focused. Getting this word during this month is interesting since the card I pulled for July’s group reading is called “Focus”. It’s message: “Hocus Pocus, where’s your focus?”

The essence of the reading’s message encourages us to pick one thing to focus doing or completing this month. That whenever we catch ourselves wondering what to work on or what to do, we focus on whatever that one “thing” is.

At the moment I have at least 50 projects on my project wish list. Trying to figure out which one to work on is overwhelming. So I intuitively I choose 2 or 3 of them and dedicate part of my day to each of them. Granted that’s more than what today’s MotD definition said to do so I pick one to be the main one, the one I’ll absolutely work on daily, with the other 1 or 2 as secondary…meaning if I have time to work on them I will.

For me, it’s continuing to work on the “Archangel 3 Mandala”, which I started in May and then let it drop. Being a big project, I know it will take more than one month to complete. Instead this month I know I’ll make significant progress by putting some time into it each day. The other two are online classes that I’ve stalled out on: the mediumship class on Udemy and a procreate calligraphy class.

Doing it this way, sets up a system for me…so it’s not so much about what project I’m working but that every day I’m putting time in on whatever I’ve designated as the main one, and if there’s time, making some progress on the other two. With this type of system, I make greater progress on my projects, with less procrastination.

How about you? Is focused a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
