Elegance
“the quality of being graceful in appearance and behavior”
Elegance is an art form…one that usually eludes me. I would often be called “Grace”…sarcastically. I tend to be a walking slapstick comedy routine. And I know why…it’s because I’m usually 10 steps ahead of myself…in my mind. My body has yet to catch up, thus it fails to see the things that can trip me up…or knock things over.
Elegance is truly a state of mind…a fully present mind. If you ever watch elegant people (think Audrey Hepburn), they take their time—they almost float—going from here to there, their clothing is impeccably draped on their bodies, everything is strategically placed and in place. They give off this air or aura of calmness and confidence…even if inside themselves all hell is breaking loose.
I can see where elegance can be meditative state if intended as such. To walk and talk with grace, being present with our surroundings, inside and out. Each step carefully place. Each word carefully thought out. It’s certainly something that would have to be a daily practice in order to achieve and maintain. Ultimately it’s about slowing down and being in the moment…because after all, this moment is the only time we can actually do anything.
How about you? Is elegance a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
