Optimism

“a positive outlook”

Where some of us struggle with optimism is fearing that we’ll turn into a bunch of Pollyannas (google it) that are in denial about the realities of life. In actuality, today’s MotD is encouraging a mindset that promotes a balanced and grounded form of optimism.

How, you may ask?

  1. acknowledge what “is” in any given situation, make an honest non-judgmental assessment to help ground us in reality.
  2. shift our focus from problems to potential solutions…take a proactive and hopeful approach without ignoring the challenge(s).
  3. Maintain a positive outlook by celebrating small wins and minor achievements without seeming naive.
  4. Practice overall gratitude on the positive aspects of life.
  5. Use positive language.
  6. Build resilience as a way to create an atmosphere of balanced optimism grounded in the ability to handle adversity.
  7. Encourage setting achievable, tangible goals rather than unrealistic ones.

Essentially we’re being encouraged to live the life promoted by the immortal Casey Kasem (google him):

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

How about you? Is optimism a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
