Meaningful Work

“doing something that connects with our values, piques our interest, and engages our moral compass”

What does “meaningful work” mean to you? For some of us we may think that it needs to be something on a grand scale or else what’s the point. We forget how small, meaningful deeds can have a positive ripple effect on the world as a whole…like the butterfly effect.

If we go with that idea of the ripple effect, then meaningful work could be something as simple as doing our work from a place of kindness. Or if we’re in a situation where the work we do feels more like drudgery, to the point where we feel victim to it, then we are encouraged to find a way to make it meaningful…even if it’s something as simple as purposely changing our hairstyle or the clothes we wear, or genuinely smiling or saying “Hi” to everyone with whom we come into contact.

Or even better, we wear a new “mindset” by setting an intention for the day that “regardless of what’s going on around me, I intend to make what I do today feel and be meaningful for the greater good of all, including me.”

I’d like to think that by doing these Mandalas of the Day, I’m doing meaningful work…it feels meaningful to me to do them…I hope it is for you.

How about you? Is meaningful work a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
