Moderation
“the quality of doing something within reasonable limits”
I guess the key word here is: reasonable. Define reasonable. It’s going to be different for everyone. For someone who runs ultramarathons (100+ miles at a time), running a marathon once a month might seem reasonable. For someone who walks 1.5 miles a day (me), running a marathon once a month would be insane. It’s that adage: one person’s junk is another person’s treasure.
For those of us with addictive personalities (my hand is raised), moderation is challenging. It’s all about finding a balance. For instance, when I draw the mandalas of the day I usually add as many rows as will fit on the paper, even implying that it continues beyond the paper.
Today’s wanted to be kept to three rows. A part of me wanted to add more design details, but I kept getting a “no”. Actually, the voice in my head used the same phrase I use with our dog Faé when she’s wanting desperately to chase a neighborhood squirrel: “Leave it!”
With today’s MotD, we’re encouraged to mindfully observe where we could use more moderation in our lives: social media scrolling, shopping, eating, worrying, video games, and so on…with the goal of achieving balance.
How about you? Is moderation a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
