MotD 24-238 Liberty — After. Abstract background of micro-textured creamy yellow colors with two partial mandala stenciled images…one on the left, one on the right. the left one is textured with yellow and green colors. the right one is mostly textured green. on top in black ink is a large circle in the center. all around the outer edge are lots of spiky shapes like kelp. on the inside, the portion of the stenciled mandala that’s in the circle on the right is outlined with black ink. to the left of it, some hearts and partial hearts are drawn as if part of the stenciled mandala design.

Liberty

“the freedom to live your life in the way that you want, without interference from other people”

Who do you think interferes with our freedom to live our lives the way we want to…the most? Parents? no. Teachers? no. Spouses? no. The Government? no. Remember the operative part of the question is the phrase “the most”.

The answer? We do. We interfere with our freedom…with our self-sabotage, our inner criticisms and self-judgments, our limiting beliefs, and our fears…just to name a few. So much of what we want to pursue for ourselves is stopped because we talk ourselves out of it for any of the aforementioned ways and/or reasons.

We are encouraged, therefore, to pay attention to that part of ourselves that does this type of talking…not so much as to suppress it but to question its reasoning. For instance if our inner voice tells us that “no one wants to hear what you have to say”, then ask it “why not?” or “why would you say that?” or something to that effect.

Chances are the deeper we investigate this part, the closer we’ll come to the answer which will probably be that it’s just trying to protect us from getting hurt in some way. And it is HERE where we can heal this part, thank it for its service, and give it its freedom.

As we heal these parts of ourselves, one by one, we allow ourselves to go after the life we want to live, without any internal interference. And with that comes one caveat: our pursuit for the life we want, must not interfere with anyone else’s pursuit of the life they want. Essentially…the golden rule still applies even in the case of liberty.

How about you? Is liberty a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
