Knowledge

“facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education”

The whole time I was drawing out this mandala, I kept hearing “knowledge is power”…and now that phrased has morphed into “knowledge is self-empowering”. With knowledge comes freedom and opportunities that would otherwise go unnoticed, unavailable, or unattainable.

That adage “ignorance is bliss” gives a false and/or temporary sense of comfort. We often think we’re better of not knowing something…so we just go on our merry way, not realizing how limited we are.

With knowledge we have the ability to determine our next action (or inaction). Our challenge is to treat knowledge as neutral…it’s neither good nor bad…we have the free will to make it into either one or both, if necessary.

With knowledge we’ve learned to not touch a hot stove. With knowledge we’ve learned what brings us joy and what does not. With knowledge we’ve learned to discern what serves us best and what does not.

You see, this is the empowering part. With knowledge WE get to decided our life, our future, our next step; otherwise we’re just being led like sheep.

As a means to that end, I make all of my mandalas available for people to color. Why should I have all the fun?
