Diversity

“any mixture of items characterized by differences and similarities”

Diversity is what makes life interesting. If everything was the same…how boring would that be? Our whole existence on this planet involves duality and finding a healthy balance between our differences and similarities and being open to embracing them both. Think about all we are missing when we always do and/or experience the same thing day in and day out

In art, it’s the contrasts within the art that make it interesting, giving it life, and energy. With food, if all we eat is the same food all the time, how will you know the joys of trying new and different (btw…this does not apply to chocolate).

Back in the day (70s), I used to think Jack-in-the-Box’s tacos were the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Then I moved to L.A. and had authentic tacos…OMG!…I never went back to JitB. As a kid, I grew up on jar spaghetti sauce. Then I married my first husband, who was Italian, and he introduced me to making sauce from scratch as well as homemade pasta for raviolis and lasagna. Again…OMG! I left that husband but kept the recipe.

Essentially, we are encouraged to have an open mind about trying new-to-us things and meeting new-to-us-people and cultures. Our planet Earth is huge, and if you believe we only live once, wouldn’t you want to experience as much of it as you could? It would be like going to a large buffet and only selecting one item to eat (again…this does not apply to chocolate…imho).

How about you? Is diversity a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
