Appreciativeness
“acknowledgment of having received something of benefit from someone else”
We’re taking a different angle on this today. We know how good it feels when people appreciate it when we’re able to help others. It’s uplifting, it’s empower, our hearts grow a few sizes bigger. So why would we deprive others of that same feeling.
Last week while grocery shopping, an item I wanted was on the top shelf and pushed back. Being vertically challenged, I would have to climb up on something to reach it…which I seriously contemplated doing…I even looked around to see how I could do it. Being 70yo and diagnosed with some osteoporosis…I thought better of it. No one was around…at this point I questioned whether I really needed this product or not.
Then I spotted a taller person who seemed kind of serious and deep in thought. I approached him asking: “can I borrow your height?” (yes, that’s exactly how I said it) They did a double take as if I just woke them up. When it registered what I asked for, they gladly (and easily…I’m so jealous) retrieved the item. I thanked them and saw them walk away with a big smile on their face. For both of us our energy shifted upward in that moment. It still does, just thinking about it.
Just as we love the joyful feeling of being able to help others, we are encouraged to give others that same opportunity by allowing them to help us…so that we can then express our appreciativeness to them.
How about you? Is appreciativeness a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,
Maureen

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
