Bravery
“the quality of having the strength to face danger, fear, or a difficulty”
Here’s the thing with bravery…all it truly requires is our willingness to believe, to have faith, that we can handle whatever comes our way. And to also know that fear is equally an important component of bravery…because, to quote the movie “Bounce”…”it’s not brave unless you’re scared”.
Motivational speaker, Mel Robbins, shares that when she feels fear just before going on stage, rather than tell herself that she’s scared, she tells herself that she’s excited. Believe it or not, it’s the same energy only rather than shutting us down, being excited lifts us up.
Here’s another thing about being brave…it usually involves just one step forward, one committed decision…after that it’s all momentum. It’s like riding a roller coaster. Once we take that step forward to get on the ride, there’s no turning back, it’s all forward movement after that…unless it’s the type of roller coaster that goes backwards.
We are encouraged to examine the times in our lives when we were brave. Sometimes it worked out great, other times it was a learning experience. Regardless, we’re still here, we survived it in some way shape or form. It reminds us now that whatever fear(s) we have about moving forward on a project, idea, dream, know that we’ve handled fear before we can handle it now.
How about you? Is bravery a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
