Family
“a group of people united by a common connection”
When we think of family we usually think of a group of people who are related by blood and/or by law…in truth, families are SOOOOO much more than that…it’s about the closeness and caring we feel towards others while bonding over common goals and/or values. Some families are long-term, others are short-lived.
For instance, when I was in college, there were four of us who commiserated and celebrated with each other throughout those years…to me, at that time we were family. When I’m blessed with being cast in a local play, the cast and crew members become a short-term family…helping each other out, supporting each other, and, of course, playing together. Maybe (hopefully) down the road, we get to be in another “family” together.
Of course I have my immediate blood family. My parents are passed. Two of my three brothers and I zoom every Sunday (we’re 100s – 1,000s of miles apart). We’re still connected with the third brother, although not over zoom. We are together for the long haul. As the oldest, I’ve known them my whole life. I consider them a blessing and I’m grateful to have them in my life.
Essentially, families are about uniting and connecting with people while sharing a common connection…however long they last.
How about you? Is family a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
