Contemplation
“serious and quiet thought for a period of time”
Have you ever just stopped to contemplate the nature of our existence on this planet at this time…even for a moment? I just did. I thought about how my consciousness is currently residing in this particular body and has been on this planet for 25,917 days (just shy of 71 years). I contemplated how much as changed over the years…with me and the population as a whole…some of it for the better, some of it for the worst.
Then I thought about how I/we exist on this giant rock (we call Earth), that gives the illusion that it and the other planets and celestial objects are floating in space. How can that be? I know that science attributes it to a bunch of things like the big bang, gravity, and orbits and such. I get that. But seriously…this huge rock is floating in space…which led me to wonder: “how much does the earth weigh?” Well, I googled it and found this on CoolCosmos.ipac.caltec.edu: the earth weighs 13,700+21 zeros in pounds or 5,974+21 zeros in kilograms. That’s when I stopped and remembered I needed to write this post.
When I look at this mandala, I can see where it encourages us to go inward to find the “gold”. The leaves around the outside make me think of the noise they make when wind goes through them. The v-shapes with circles look like people cheering. I’d like to think that’s our team of guides and angels cheering us on as we go inwards…away from the noise…because that’s when we’re more likely to hear their guidance and insight.
Some people might consider contemplation to be a form of meditation…I believe it can be. And I believe we can all benefit from spending more time in contemplation…even if only for a few moments a day.
How about you? Is contemplation a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
