Forthrightness
“the quality of being honest or direct in what you say or do”
So I randomly choose the background papers I use for the MotD. I live in America…I’d say the United States but sadly, we’re not so united right now…and it breaks my heart. It wasn’t until after I drew the design and started to write this post that I noticed that the background was equally divided between red and blue.
While drawing today’s mandala I was contemplating the whole “honesty” thing both with today’s word and with a news story I saw earlier about FEMA’s efforts to provide recovery help to the people of North Carolina.
It would seem that no matter how forthright we can or want to be, how does one garner trust when so much widespread misinformation and outright lies have made it so difficult for people to know who is being truthful and who is not?
When situations like this are so rampant, it behooves us, to take a look at ourselves. We are encouraged to look within, then work our way out to others. In other words, this is an inside job first and foremost. Are we being forthright with what we say and do with ourselves? Are we being forthright with what we say and do with one another?
I’ll say it again…forthrightness HAS to start with you and me before any trust can be established with others.
How about you? Is forthrightness a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
