Education

“a lifelong process of acquiring experiences, knowledge, and wisdom throughout one’s life”

I suspect that when we hear the word “education” we usually think of it in terms of formal education: elementary school, college, academy, institution, and so on. But really, every day life is loaded with opportunities for education. Essentially the two, book-learning and real life learning, have their place and both are of value. For instance would we rather have someone who’s experienced at climbing Mt. Everest lead us up the mountain or someone who’s learned about how to do it in geography class?

Some of our best education probably came from what’s called the “hard way”…through experience. Did we truly learn what a hot stove meant by hearing about it or by touching it? Did we learn how to walk as babies from just watching a video or from actually doing it? Did we learn the importance of being prepared for a presentation by reading about it or from suffering the after effects of giving an unprepared one?

Whether we like or not, we’re always learning something…we’re always gaining some wisdom … and thanks to all the videos on social media…we’re probably learning way more than we ever intended to learn. I for one have learned at least 5 different ways to slice up a watermelon. One would have sufficed.

While education is not one of my core value words, it is a subset of one of them: curiosity. For me curiosity is the stepping stone to education. And because of my strong sense of curiosity, I always want to learn the how, what, and/or why of things and people. It might explain why I have had at least 10 different jobs/careers in my life…thus far. Currently, I’m a mandala artist and intuitive channel. Where I go next, I have yet to learn.

Regardless, it’s been my quest to continue learning new things until my final breath…so far I’ve made it to level 71…I’m aiming for at least level 88.
