MotD 24-311 Graciousness — after. textured abstract background with pale colors of teal, pink, beige, yellow, and white. There’s a splash of magenta and an area in the middle that’s mustard yellow…with smallish white blobs. on top in black ink is an outline of a heart over the mustard yellow. inside are two spirals and a small circle. five large petals surround the heart also with a spiral in each and gold trim along one side of each petal. more spirals coming out from between the petals.

Graciousness

“the quality of being kind, polite, and generous”

The thing about graciousness is… it doesn’t cost us ANYTHING and yet the ROI (return on investment) is huge. We can be kind, polite, and generous regardless of whether we only have a few dollars in our wallet or a million dollars in the bank.

All it takes to be gracious is to expend a little bit of energy and a moment of our time…to hold a door open for someone, to let someone else have the last cookie, to help someone carry their groceries to their car, to smile, to offer a genuine compliment, to let a car merge in front of us, to truly listen to others who are speaking, to call someone to check up on them, and so on.

Here’s the thing, when we are gracious, along with lifting the other person’s spirits, it also lifts up ours. These days, we could all use more of that…please and thank you.

How about you? Is graciousness a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
