Farsightedness

“the ability to anticipate and plan for the future”

The challenge with planning for the future is that there are so many unknowns…ie: a lot of uncertainty. Actually, only two things are truly certain: things change and we’re all going to die at some point. Seems rather grim and yet it serves us well to put them out on the table so as not to deny their existence.

So if we know that things are going to change and that one day we’re going to die, how do we anticipate/plan for the future? By establishing now what our core values are, what are goals are, and what are game plan is for dealing with change…and then accepting the fact that down the line all of these will, more than likely, change.

Ultimately adopting the mindset of “going with the flow” (I know…it’s a much overused phrase) will make for a much smoother life-ride…it’s about the willingness to make course corrections along the way to achieving our goals while maintaining our core values.

Basically, it’s like Casey Kasam’s used to say: Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
