Kind
“being generous, helpful, and caring about other people”
Today in the U.S. we celebrate Thanksgiving…a day of love, gratitude, families, friends, gatherings, and food…lots and lots of food…and alcohol. It also has the potential of being a volatile combination of kindling that can destroy a well-intentioned day. (Had one of those back in the late 70s…I’ll spare you the details)
Here’s the thing about being kind…it has a ripple effect. One small act of kindness can reach far beyond what we’ll ever realize…at the same time, raising our spirits, putting a lilt in our step, and inspiring us to do even more acts of kindness.
As a reminder, I randomly choose the MotD words and draw out the mandala each day. It’s so poignant, to me, that “Kind” is today’s word. As we go about celebrating in whatever way we’re able to, we’re encouraged to be kind…and it could be that the kindest thing we can do is to just listen and be present. Actually, good advice for any day of the year…holiday or no holiday.
And of course, most of all, we’re encouraged to be kind to ourselves. It could be, that the kindest thing we can do today is to take a solitary walk in nature…of course dogs are always welcomed to join.
How about you? Is being kind a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
