Experimenting
“trying something in order to discover what it is like or to find out more about it”
I love it when I pay attention to the “Voices” in my head and follow through on their guidance. This morning I was guided to do my usual MotD routine: connect with the Deva of the mandala, randomly pick a number between 1-370, look up the word and definition in that row in my spreadsheet, and then kinetically determine which piece of background paper to use.
The next step is to start drawing on the paper. However, this morning I was guided to practice using my new-to-me art supplies and the sample watercolor paper puzzle pieces I had cut yesterday. All of this is in preparation for the 2025 MotDs. Before I officially start, I wanted to make sure that everything would work they way I need them to and that it was a viable process.
As I sat down to practice, it dawns on me that “I’m Experimenting!!!”. Those “Voices” are so cute, clever, and creative! So today I was actually doing with today’s MotD encourages us to do: to experiment. To try new things or new approaches to things we already know how to do. It’s what sparks our creativity…not just in artsy stuff…but in everything we do.
For me, practicing was mostly about testing the art supplies and seeing how the paper responded to the paint. I’m so glad I did this because it turns out that three of the four water-filled watercolor bushes leak water…so I’ll use the brushes and leave those three empty of water. The paper responded beautifully…I was concerned the paper would swell up and thus ruin their connection points. The paint works fine. I discovered the set doesn’t have black…and I’m ok with that.
Here’s the result of my experimenting. BTW…I drew lines on the paper after I had cut them…If I had thought about it a bit more, I would have drawn lines before cutting…oh well, I still got the info I needed and made the necessary discoveries.

How about you? Is experimenting a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,
Maureen

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
